Campus Profile:URI Hillel has grown tremendously in the last few years and in January 2010 opened the Norman M. Fain Hillel Center, a 5000 square foot facility in the heart of the University's residence hall area. Students come from a variety of Jewish backgrounds, mostly Reform, Conservative and Secular. The campus is laid-back and students are mainly interested in social activities and community service. Although there is no kosher dining plan on campus, Hillel serves regular Friday night dinners and sponsors many other food-related activities. All students welcome and encouraged to get involved and share their ideas. URI Hillel facilitates student trips to Israel through Taglit Birthright Israel. URI Hillel also sponsors alternative winter and spring break programs and in the last several years has sent groups to New Orleans, Los Angeles and Joplin, MO.
