In this issue... As we prepare to enter the Days of Awe, many of us are reflecting on the year gone by. What did we do well? What did we do wrong? Who are we grateful for and whom have we hurt?
This edition of Hillel Campus Report shares a similar theme of reflection. You’ll learn about Hillel’s 85-year history on college campuses and the see-saw of celebration and challenge the organization has experienced. You’ll also read about breakout singer/songwriter Josh Radin, an unabashed storyteller whose melancholic romantic past has been a catalyst for professional success. This issue’s Learn Something Jewish is about the way we honor our elders by taking time to learn from their long-lived lives.
I look forward to your feedback on these articles and encourage you to spread the messages of Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur by sending a Hillel e-card to a friend. With wishes for a sweet new year, L’shana Tova!

Joshua Radin: Northwestern Alum's Album is #1 iTunes Download Born to Jewish parents outside Cleveland, Ohio, Josh Radin is enjoying tremendous success as a singer/songwriter who - less than five years ago - was a starving artist in New York City. Fueled by heartbreak and encouraged by friend and actor/director Zach Braff, Radin is now set to release his third album, Simple Times and head off on a world tour.
"For the most part," says Radin, "the record is a story about falling in and out of love and those moments in between."
Shayna Goldstein: From Hebrew School to Hollywood The daughter of a Colorado cantor and ballerina, 17-year old Shayna Goldstein was - until recently - one of six remaining contestants on ABC’s hit reality TV show High School Musical: Get in the Picture. Just before her elimination, JVibe magazine got personal with Shayna about her experience as the only Jew on the show, and what she plans to do now.
"When I’m 90 years old I’ll be writing music. If I get turned down, who cares? I write for me—I sing to emote and make people feel something. So whether it’s 10 [people] or a million, I’ll never stop singing."
