UJC Launches “Super Jews” Campaign to Foster “Micro-Activism”

Heroes are everywhere in the Jewish world. The UJC has launched a national online campaign, dubbed "Super Jews," to encourage young people to become heroes themselves and to help change and strengthen the Jewish community.

The UJC campaign is a Facebook-based Color War designed to foster a new wave of micro-activism over the Chanukah holiday.

Participants go to http://www.superjews.org/ and pick the Color Wars team to sign up.

The campaign is being run by United Jewish Communities and the Jewish Federation system with an all-star team of partners – The Jewish Agency for Israel, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, the JTA news service, Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life, JESNA: the Jewish Education Service of North America, and the Foundation for Jewish Culture. Please join us!

The Rules: Choose your Chanukah Color War team today – Red, Blue or Green. Unlike the Color Wars you joined at summer camp, there’s no tug-of-war and no capture-the-flag. Instead, you and the other members of your team will get an alert on each day of Chanukah with your mission for that day.

Missions will be online acts of good for the Jewish world; none will take more than a few minutes to complete, and we hope you’ll find them to be interesting and fun. The more people on your team who complete each day’s mission, the higher your team’s score will be. We’ll keep you updated on the score each day, and at the end of the eight-day Color War we’ll award Gold, Silver or Bronze medals to all participants for your Facebook profiles.

The Teams: Each Color Wars team is captained by two heroes from Team SuperJews, a group of secret agents who rise to the occasion whenever the Jewish people are in need. The Red Team is led by Mega Mensch and Queen Kabbalah, Blue by Captain Israel and Beth L, and Green by Eternal Light and Judah the Giant. Read dossiers for each hero on their team page, and watch for videos of their adventures there and on SuperJews.org.

Spread the Word: Please promote this effort on your Website; SuperJews banners can be found at www.ujc.org/page.aspx?id=189191 , and in the UJCweb central asset library.

Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life is a recipient of funds from the National Federation/Agency Alliance through its supporting federations and United Jewish Communities. Created in 2007, the National Federation/Agency Alliance is a partnership of 37 local Jewish federations that provides significant funding and support to nine national Jewish agencies, including Hillel, under the auspices of the United Jewish Communities.

For More Information: Inquiries about the SuperJews campaign may be directed to Andy Neusner at andy.neusner@ujc.org. Questions from Federations about setting up Facebook groups so they can fully participate in this event should contact Jeff Dorfman at jeff.dorfman@ujc.org .
