Hillel Offers Neuman Fellowships for Russian-Speaking Students

Thanks to the generosity of New York businessman and philanthropist Herbert Neuman, Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life is recruiting a delegation of Russian-speaking undergraduate and graduate students leaders from North America to participate in the Hillel in the Former Soviet Union Summer Leadership Seminar in Kiev, Ukraine on Aug. 23-30.

The North American delegation will spend time visiting significant Jewish and historic sights and experiencing the Jewish community of Kiev. The conference will bring together 150 Hillel students from Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Uzbekistan for Jewish leadership training, including program planning and Jewish learning.

Up to eight Neuman Fellows will be selected. Fellows must be either a native Russian speaker or have spent significant time in a Russian-speaking environment. Each fellow must contribute $350 to off-set the cost of their participation. Lodging, meals, ground transportation and airfare will be covered by Hillel. Candidates must complete a short application detailing their student leadership background, language proficiency and prior travel experience. A valid U.S. or Canadian passport and proof of medical insurance is required of all participants.
