It is my great pleasure to announce that the Board of Directors of Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life has voted to appoint Avraham Infeld as the twelfth president of Hillel.
As you may know, Avraham was not a candidate for the position. However, after an exhaustive search that reviewed dozens of impressive candidates from the ranks of Jewish professional leadership and beyond, the Presidential Search Committee concluded that we had the best person already in place. The Search Committee asked Avraham if he would consent to taking the position on a permanent basis and we are pleased that he agreed.
In the eight months he has served as Interim President, Avraham has truly won the hearts of students, lay leaders and professionals. Whether he was teaching students at the Charles Schusterman International Student Leaders Assembly, meeting with donors at a fundraising event, or bringing 3000 students to Israel this winter, he has proven himself to be a masterful educator, fundraiser and administrator. Since Avraham became interim president, Hillel created the new Center for Student Leadership and Program Development; added eight new members to our Board of Governors; brought a record number of students to Israel through our birthright israel program and missions; strengthened our relationship with important partner agencies, including birthright israel, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, the Jewish Agency for Israel, AIPAC and the World Union of Jewish Students; bolstered our efforts at internationalization; and improved communication with Hillel directors.
Avraham has a powerful vision for Hillel's role in the future of the Jewish people and the ability to make that vision a reality. We are delighted that he will join us to lead the Hillel movement to greater achievement.
