Tom Friedman to Headline Hillel's Summit on the University and Jewish Community
December 12, 2005Comments (0) | Add | E-mail this to a friend Two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Tom Friedman of the New York Times will join university presidents, community leaders and Hillel professionals at "Inspiring Values, Creating Leaders," the first summit on the university and the Jewish community. Sponsored by Hillel, the event will be held May 21-23, 2006 in Washington, D.C. Confirmed presenters also include Tufts University President Lawrence Bacow, Georgetown University President John J. DeGioia, Yeshiva University President Richard M. Joel, PBS senior correspondent Gwen Ifill, Emory University Professor Deborah Lipstadt and Williams College President Morton Owen Schapiro.
The summit is the first time representatives from universities and a broad array of Jewish life will come together to discuss common objectives. Never before has the totality of the Jewish university experience been explored and celebrated in one place from many different perspectives.
The summit is a historic opportunity to join the leadership of America's colleges and universities and key voices of the American Jewish community to discuss common objectives. Summit presentations and workshops will focus on strengthening Jewish life on every campus; building strategic, cooperative relationships between community and campus leaders; creating meaningful leadership opportunities for young adults; and transmitting values and knowledge to students.
Hillel is currently seeking individual and corporate sponsors to enable leading experts and college students to participate in the summit. For more information, visit the information page or contact Jill Allenberg.
