Hillel President and CEO Wayne L. Firestone attended a conference of faith leaders, university administrators, government officials, foundation professionals, non-profit leaders, and college students at the White House on June 7 convened by the Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships.

The event focused on advancing interfaith and community service on college and university campuses, reaffirming the Administration's strong commitment to making service a defining aspect of American life. Firestone was joined by Hillel colleagues including Harvard Hillel Director Bernie Steinberg, Outgoing Director of University of Washington Hillel Will Berkowitz, Associate University Chaplain of Brown RISD Rabbi Mordechai Rackover, Bronfman Fellow Nathan Render and several Hillel student leaders from campuses across the country.

The gathering underscored Hillel's continued dedication to providing service opportunities for Jewish students in partnership with both Jewish and non-Jewish organizations around the country, all working toward a shared goal of tikkun olam, repairing the world.

Hillel will continue its firm commitment to strengthening campus activism and inspiring campus change-makers from across the political, religious, cultural, and ethnic spectrum by convening a Change Summit on July 22, 2010 for DC Summer Interns in the Cannon House Caucus Room on Capitol Hill. The Change Summit is generously supported by the Einhorn Family Charitable Trust in partnership with a growing number of organizations including Ashoka: Innovators for the Public, The Interfaith Youth Core, and Teach for America.
