Cincinnati Students Go Back to the Bible with Community-Wide Event

Although the Hillel Jewish Center's Back to the Bible is a marathon reading of a religious text, it is also, in the words of Rabbi Abie Ingber, a "chance to slow down and come together."

This is why at 10 a.m. last Wednesday, students, faculty and community members read the Bible, and continued in 15-minute shifts until they reach II Chronicles sometime Friday.

Ingber and students of Hillel were joined by University of Cincinnati President Nancy Zimpher, Xavier University President Michael Graham and Vice Mayor Jim Tarbell, along with other well-known community members, to start the event.
