University of Rochester Churns out Sandwiches

The smell of Jif hung heavy in the air.
Chrisna Govin laid out 16 slices of cinnamon raisin bread on the table before her, grabbed her knife and started slathering a dollop of peanut butter each on half of them. Standing shoulder to shoulder with her were dozens of other University of Rochester students doing likewise -- spreading jelly on bread, pressing the slices together, or bagging the finished product.
There is a mix of art and science to making 4,000 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for Rochester-area needy, as about 300 students did Wednesday and again today for UR's "PB Jam 2003."
