Vote for Israel's Next "Ambassador" to the United States!
February 24, 2006Comments (0) | Add | E-mail this to a friendAt a time when millions of Americans are casting votes for the next "American Idol," Jewish students from around the world will be doing the same for Israel's next - unofficial - ambassador. Hillel has partnered with Israel's hit TV program "The Ambassador" for the first time this March so students in North America, South America and the former Soviet Union can help Israelis decide who will be Israel's next "Ambassador" to the United States.
The fourteen participants in Israel's version of "The Apprentice" are currently vying for a one-year tenure representing Israel to the world by taking on challenges in public speaking, communications, diplomacy and international affairs. This season, the show asks contenders to create the best promotional video for Israel. Hillel students will virtually join Israeli executives in the boardroom and vote for Israel's next "Ambassador"!
Campus Hillels are eligible to participate by gathering a minimum of 20 students to watch the short video clips and vote any time between March 21 and 23 (please note, this is a change from before). Each Hillel will tally its votes and determine a winner on its campus. Their tallies will be sent to Hillel's Schusterman International Center and producers of "The Ambassador" in Israel. The votes must be submitted no later than 6 p.m. EST on March 23 and note the exact breakdown of the voting on campus between the five candidates. The two finalists will be chosen as a result of the overall Hillel vote.
Because this show will not air in Israel until later, it is imperative that the link provided for screening the films is not shared with others. Hillels may not circulate the video link to students or anyone else.
