Why break a record when you can smash one?
Alumni Hall buzzed Sunday, if only for 10 seconds, with the sound of 713 dreidels spinning their way into the record books.
The previous record, set by the University of Maryland at 536 dreidels for 10 seconds in 2000, was unofficially broken, pending confirmation by the Guinness Book of World Records.

Two years ago, the Terps defeated Indiana University 64-52 to capture their first national championship in basketball.
Now, it's payback time.
This Sunday, students at Indiana's Jewish Community Center will meet to attempt to break this university's dreidel-spinning world record, set in 2000 at 535 simultaneously spinning dreidels.
