(June 11, 2009) Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life extends its condolences to our colleagues at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and to the family of Officer Stephen Tyrone Johns on his tragic murder yesterday. The U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum symbolizes the need for constant vigilance against the destructive power of hatred. Officer Jones died in defense of this ideal. He is a hero to Americans and to all freedom-loving people the world over.
The USHMM is one of the world's greatest tools for preserving the records of the martyrs of the Holocaust and teaching tolerance to new generations. It will outlive the bullies, terrorists and Holocaust deniers who seek to do it harm.
