Big changes are afoot for Hillel at the University of Kansas in Lawrence this year. KU Hillel sold the former Hillel House near campus and has moved into a new, downtown office building, even as its permanent quarters on the ground floor are being finished.
What's more, Rabbi Neal Schuster, formerly of The Temple, Congregation B'nai Jehudah, recently joined KU Hillel as senior Jewish educator. Rabbi Schuster's position, one of just 10 in the country, is being funded by the San Francisco-based Jim Joseph Foundation as part of a pilot project.
