The January edition of the Orange County Jewish Life Magazine features a cover story on Hillel at University of California Irvine to celebrate the opening of Hillel's first independent home on campus:
"The bridge linking the new Hillel student center with the University of California, Irvine (UCI) is a powerful symbol. Not only does it put the hub of Jewish activity at a convenient location for UCI students; it represents a meeting of the minds as well as a meeting place.
"Over the winter vacation Hillel staff and students moved Hillel's entire operations into a new space located just across the street from UCI, above the U.S. post office on Campus Drive. The historic move gives students a place to 'come together, study, have work groups, or just hang out between classes,' said Jordan Fruchtman, executive director of the Hillel Foundation of Orange County since 2008.
"'It's the single most important gift we can give to the Jewish students at UCI,' added Fruchtman. 'The kids are so excited. They deserve it and have deserved it for a long time.'"
