Hillel joined the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations and many other organizations to cosponsor a memorial gathering for members of the Fogel family, who were brutally murdered in their home in Itamar last Shabbat. On short notice, the gathering filled the 1,000-seat sanctuary at Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun as the community came together to express solidarity with the Fogel family and to speak out against the continuing incitement against Israel and the Jewish people that spurs such inhuman acts of terror.
Thousands of others across the US joined via live stream on the internet and heard Jewish communal and religious leaders condemn the barbaric killings and decry the lack of moral outrage and continued inaction of the international community as innocent Israeli citizens were murdered as they slept at home in violation of all norms of human decency. Reverend Jacques DeGraff, Pastor of the Canaan Baptist Church in Harlem called the murder "a crime against humanity." The memorial has been archived here.
