To provide more Jewish students an opportunity to experience Israel, Hillel International, the largest organizer of Taglit-Birthright Israel trips for college-age participants, announced the addition of two new Taglit-Birthright Israel trips for Summer 2015 and the continuation of a unique trip designed for speakers of American Sign Language.
The new offerings include the first-ever Hillel trips for incoming college freshmen and Israel Underwater, a trip designed for marine enthusiasts and certified scuba divers.
“Taglit-Birthright Israel trips are a critical tool for meeting Hillel’s mission of helping students foster connections with the Jewish homeland and build Jewish Identity,” said Sara Teichman, Director of Taglit-Birthright Israel: Hillel. “We are thrilled to include an ever-growing population of participants and students with specific interests and needs in the Taglit-Birthright Israel experience.”
- In June, Hillel will send participants on the inaugural Taglit-Birthright Israel trip designed for those with an interest in marine life and scuba diving. Participants in the Israel Underwater program will experience the country’s diverse marine environment, scuba dive with Israeli experts, learn about water conservation efforts, visit underwater excavations and discover Israel’s maritime archaeology. The trip will run June 1, 2015, through June 12, 2015.
Hillel International continues to offer the only Taglit-Birthright Israel trip designed for participants who are Deaf or hard of hearing and for those who are hearing and are familiar with American Sign Language (ASL). This trip is in its twelfth year and will be held from June 8, 2015 through June 19, 2015.
In August, Hillel will launch the first-ever Taglit-Birthright Israel trips for incoming freshman students, who are at least 18 years of age. The inaugural trips will send incoming students from The Ohio State University, Indiana University, University of Wisconsin, and University of Central Florida to Israel. Participants will enjoy a unique opportunity to build relationships with other incoming freshmen, visit a major university in Israel to meet Israeli freshmen and experience an introduction to campus life.
Registration for summer 2015 trips opens on February 3, 2015. For more information or to register visit www.freeisraeltrip.org.
