Eric D. Fingerhut, President and CEO of Hillel International, announced today that the Adam R. Bronfman Family Foundation and The Samuel Bronfman Foundation are establishing a full time Executive Director position to serve the newly expanded Hillel for Utah. Hillel for Utah will be led by Dana Tumpowsky, the organization’s founder and current advisor. She will assume her professional post on July 1.
Currently hosted by Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Hillel for Utah is the only chapter of the international Jewish campus organization in the state, which connects with students at more than 550 colleges and universities across North America and around the world. Its expansion and the establishment of the Executive Director position will allow for a stronger approach to reaching more Jewish students in the state of Utah, and for the inclusion of more campuses in the Hillel for Utah structure.
“We are pleased that hundreds of students in Utah will benefit from the expansion of Hillel’s reach in that state,” said Adam Bronfman, President of The Samuel Bronfman Foundation. “Hillel’s continued work ensures that the future of the Jewish people is a bright one, and the Bronfman Foundation is proud to support the growth of Hillel for Utah.”
The new Hillel for Utah will engage more students from Utah colleges and universities through unique programming such as Ask Big Questions Shabbat dinners, a Hanukkah Latkefest, a Passover Seder and more. The student-guided organization will be empowered by Tumpowsky’s full-time support to offer Utah students cultural awareness, service opportunities and connections to Utah’s Jewish community.
“Hillel’s newly elevated presence in Utah will offer increased support for Jewish students and a stronger focus on Jewish life, learning and connection to Israel across the state. Dana’s appointment as Executive Director ensures that more students will benefit from her dedication and passion for our important work.” said Eric Fingerhut, President and CEO of Hillel International. “We are very grateful to the Bronfman Foundations for continuing to enable Hillel’s growth throughout North America.”
