Though he grew up in the, “very boring, but also beautiful” Boring, OR, Seth Reder’s life has been nothing of the sort. Reder began to develop his Jewish identity later in life: When he was 27-years-old, he left his job at the University of Miami to move to Israel to be a Masa Israel Teaching Fellow. Reder was also a part of the first Masa-Hillel Fellowship cohort, and during his time in Israel he realized, “Hillel was going to be a family, community and opportunity to share passions for Israel, and help others discover their Jewish journeys.” His enthusiasm for Hillel led him to become the director of Jewish student life at Central Florida Hillel in 2014.

In his new role as associate director of leadership programs for HillelU, he works to provide resources, training and professional experiences to help Hillel professionals succeed in their jobs. Reder is also working on a Ph.D. in Higher Education and Student Affairs at the University of Northern Colorado.

"I see immense value in supporting professional staff members,” said Reder. “I am beyond excited to be part of the Hillel movement as we continue to be a leader in Jewish education and development for students and staff."
