Over 90 Staff to be Trained for Posts throughout North America

(WASHINGTON, D.C.,) -- The 2001 first-year class of Hillel professional leaders is about to go to their new campuses for the first time and, like any campus novice, they will undergo an orientation session to take the jitters out of that first week at school.

The 90 leaders who will attend Hillel's New Professionals Orientation include newly minted Hillel Foundation directors, assistant directors, Jewish student life coordinators, development professionals, and Steinhardt Jewish Campus Service Corps Fellows. They include lawyers, businesspeople, student affairs specialists, rabbis and even a former Hollywood screenwriter.

Hillel staff and outside experts will lead workshops on everything from budgeting and development, to communications and counseling. The new professionals will learn how to create partnerships on campus and in the community, as well as to engage and empower Jewish students. Featured speakers include Scott Jaschik, the editor of the Chronicle of Higher Education; Kirsten Chadwick, Ph.D., Catholic University Counseling Center; Courtney Collins, program coordinator for campus programs, University of Maryland College Park; partner agency representatives; and Hillel experts from throughout North America.
