Hillel students placed emphasis on a new strategy, which called on universities to invest in Israel and celebrate its culture and future. "It is important for us to show that Israel is a valuable ally for the United States and that any campaign to convince universities to divest from Israel is simply misguided and wrong," said Michigan Hillel Board Chairman Eric Bukstein.

ANN ARBOR, Mich., Oct. 10 (JTA) — The headlines may be going to a pro-Palestinian conference set for this weekend, but Israel backers got a head start with a large campus rally in support of the Jewish state.
Some 900 students and community activists turned out at the University of Michigan on Thursday to show their support for Israel ahead of the Second National Student Conference on the Palestine Solidarity Movement, which begins Saturday.
