Israeli Ambassador Daniel Ayalon praised Hillel professionals for educating their campuses about Israel and combating anti-Israel activity.
"This [collection of Hillel professionals] is the future, and the future looks very bright," said Ayalon to Hillel's 2002 Professional Staff Conference.
Ayalon said that the United States and Israel share common desires for peace, an end to the fear of terror, and democracy for all the Arab nations. He joined President George W. Bush in decrying the war against terror as the first war of the 21st century.
In addition, Ayalon lauded U.S. bipartisan commitment to Israel. He recalled that congressional leaders recently told Prime Minister Sharon: "Mr. Prime Minister, we [the party leadership] differ on every single issue on the agenda except one which is Israel. In the case of Israel, there are no Republicans, no Democrats, we are all Americans."
