First Hillel Celebrates 80th Anniversary
October 24, 2003Comments (0) | Add | E-mail this to a friendAlison Siegel wasted no time getting involved at the Hillel Foundation. During her freshman first semester, she co-organized a weekend retreat at the University of Illinois for students statewide.
"Having a Hillel on campus means there is a community for Jewish students for whatever they need, socially or spiritually," said the UI junior in English. "It's a way to maintain ties to the Jewish community while I am in school living away from home in an area where there are not so many Jewish students."
The Hillel Foundation, 503 E. John St., C, is celebrating its 80th year on the UI's campus this year.
