In two successive issues, the University of Florida school newspaper published cartoons comparing Jews to Christ-haters and Nazis. Jewish students on the campus reacted with surprise and shock, sadness and fear. The director of Hillel, the Jewish student group, said: "For most students this is the first time they have ever encountered such hatred."
Anti-Semitism has become a global concern, and campuses have not been exempt. Anti-Semitic incidents are popping up on campuses with alarming frequency. In addition to the University of Florida cartoons, swastikas were drawn on buildings at Rutgers University, Tufts University, the University of Rhode Island and Northwestern. These incidents do not include anti-Israel and anti-Zionist protests that come dangerously close to outright Jew-hatred.
