Semi-finalist Andra London takes to the stage in Hillel's Campus Superstar.Over 1100 total students turned out for the Georgia Campus SuperStar Semi-Finals that were held at University of Georgia and Emory University on February 24.

Eleven Finalists, representing six different universities, were chosen (200 students from 19 Georgia universities and colleges auditioned earlier this month), and will compete for a grand prize of $5,000 on April 1 at Earthlink Live!

The arena, which holds approximately 1,000 people, is sold out.

Campus SuperStar, an American Idol-style event, is being produced by Hillels of Georgia, and is being chaired by Linda Selig and Rita LeVine. It is a combination engagement program and Hillel Fundraiser that has already significantly boosted the profile and popularity of Hillel in the Atlanta community and on campus. We expect to raise well over $200,000 -- smashing our original goal of $125,000 -- and representing a 300% increase over our special event fundraising totals for the last two years.

Sid and Ron Kirschner and Lois Blonder and Leslie Eisenberg will be honored at a pre-event party the night of the show. Campus SuperStar is being presented by Northside Hospital.

Hillel's Campus Superstar Chooses Four Students

It wasn't just Hakim Ziyad's red velvet blazer that captivated the packed crowd at the Campus Superstar semifinals in Cox Ballroom Tuesday evening.

His commanding singing voice and presence on stage also didn't hurt.

Ziyad, a senior at Georgia State University, was joined on stage by five other students — three from Emory — selected to move on as finalists in the singing competition.

The Campus Superstar contest, a takeoff of "American Idol" produced by Hillels of Georgia and supported by Northside Hospital, is open to any student attending a Georgia college or university. Contestants competed in hopes of winning a grand prize of $5,000 and the chance to sing at Music Midtown.
