"You know, it wouldn't bother me half as much if he gave me a reason," says Angela. "You know, like 'I'm coming off a painful breakup and I don't want to rush into things' or 'I've had a perpetual headache for the past month' or 'My sister has a schnauzer that's more attractive than you.'"
It's not a Dr. Phil guest or a call to "Loveline." It's "A Play for Every Day," the current production of the UMD Weekday Players, a new student-run theater group funded by the Jewish student group Hillel. Angela is played by Wendy Goldstein, a freshman cell and molecular biology and genetics major who plays the role in "Lunchtime," one of the seven one-act plays that make up the production.
The group, formerly called Kochavim, was started with the purpose of giving students who observe the Sabbath a theatrical opportunity they might not have otherwise because unlike most theater troupes, the Weekday Players does not meet Saturdays.
