Israeli Olympian Raises Money for Jewish Student Athletes at Cleveland Hillel
November 22, 2004Comments (0) | Add | E-mail this to a friendThere is no mixing of politics and sports for Gal Fridman, who made history last summer when he became the first Israeli athlete to win an Olympic gold medal.
Fridman became a legend and celebrity after winning the gold in the mistral sailing event during the Summer Olympics in August.
He visited Cleveland last week as part of the 2004 General Assembly of United Jewish Communities, an international conference hosted by the Jewish Community Federation of Cleveland.
The luncheon, at the Cleveland Hillel Jewish Student Center at Case Western Reserve University, helped raise money to award a Jewish college athlete. It is named after Fridman.
