George Washington University Hillel Turns Haircuts to Good Cause
April 18, 2005Comments (0) | Add | E-mail this to a friendRazors and shears flashed, hair fell and close to $19,000 was raised Sunday at an outdoor event sponsored by Hillel at George Washington University along with other groups.
Buzzing4change, as the five-hour hair-cutting marathon was dubbed, was designed to benefit Special Love, a Winchester-based camp for children and families with cancer and HIV/AIDS.
It drew to the District campus' Kogan Plaza 166 people for buzz cuts and another 42 for full haircuts, along with donations ranging from $1 to $500, said the fund-raiser's co-president, Judah Ferst, a GWU senior.
