More than 50 people have been reported dead and 700 injured in the July 7 bombings. One of the four bombings in London last week occured near a UJS-Hillel center. Operations Director Gerry Lucas sends the following news from London:

Last week's terror outrage in London included a bus bombing less than 300 yards from Hillel House on Endsleigh Street. There was an extremely large explosion, and our fundraising director, Jeremy Kelly, was quickly on the scene offering assistance. There were 13 fatalities on the bus, but thankfully, none involved Hillel personnel. Due to our proximity to the bombing, we are within what the police term a forensically sensitive area and the building can only be accessed with a police escort.

Life goes on and the day-to-day activities of the office continue, but we will not be holding large-scale meetings until the police scale down their presence in the area. We are very grateful and appreciative for the wonderful messages of concern and support sent to us by our Hillel friends and supporters, and we thank you very much for your thoughts and good wishes.
