The springtime sunshine will bring Jewish students from California and beyond to Long Beach, Calif., for the first Jewlicious @ The Beach program, sponsored by Beach Hillel and Jewlicious.com. The three-day event, to be held April 8-10, will bring together some of the most talented and creative young Jews in the country to have fun, collaborate and innovate. Students are invited to register at www.tastesgoodtobejewish.com.
The event will feature Shabbat services, sports contests, workshops on everything from clothing design to blogging and, of course, plenty of food. The hip-hop band Makkabees and Jewish/Latin fusion group Hip Hop Hoodies will perform at a Saturday-night concert. Other presenters include Jonathan Haidu, a kosher wine expert from Baron Herzog; Sarah Lefton, founder of the clothing manufacturer Jewish Fashion Conspiracy; the founders of Jewlicious.com and musicians, artists and activists.
Jewlicious @ The Beach will be net-cast in streaming audio and blogged in real time, allowing participation worldwide. The event-site will be WIFI-enabled, so laptops will interact, comment, surf and blog.
Lodging and meals are available on site and in nearby hotels. Students can participate for only $36, including meals and lodging.
