The 3,000-year-old Jewish tradition and a recent political event together helped propel Emily Goodstein, the Weinberg Tzedek Hillel Fellow at Hillel's Charles and Lynn Schusterman International Center in Washington, D.C., into the reproductive rights arena.
Goodstein, who last Friday received the Community Partnership Award from Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington at its sixth annual Champions of Choice fund-raising luncheon, says that Jewish tradition has "a pro-choice message."
"I know that not everyone agrees with me on that," she says, "but Judaism is a religion of choices, questions and empowerment."
