The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia has discovered one avenue to mold Jewish leaders and to crystallize friendships between college-age American and Israeli youth with a program simply entitled Hillel.
Professor Edward Newman serves as the chair of the Hillel of Greater Philadelphia. With Michal Bregman, 25, the Jewish Agency shlicha (emissary) and the self-described "Israeli resource on campus," Newman joined Israel's Jewish Agency to send seven Americans ages 19-23 years old to develop a grass-roots volunteer program in Israel this summer.
