University of Chicago Hillel A Cappella Group Tours to Raise Money for Hurricane Relief

Across the University of Chicago campus, different student organizations scrambled to the aid of victims of Hurricane Katrina, among them the a cappella group Chicago Rhythm and Jews.

Having the initial dream of touring the country, the question arose, Where to go? After Hurricane Katrina, the answer seemed simple, New Orleans. What better way to embody the mitzvot preached in the very songs we sang?

So seven students from the University of Chicago and one from Northwestern University recently piled into a Ford Expedition for the "Chicago Rhythm and Jews Benefit Tour 2005: Voices of Kehilah" (kehilah is Hebrew for community). Chicago Rhythm and Jews is the University of Chicago's Newberger Hillel a capella group.
