Three New Tracks for Hillel's Winter Israel Experience

Students will have the opportunity to choose among three different tracks in Israel this winter as part of Hillel’s Winter Israel Experiences.
For students eager to help rebuild areas of northern Israel devastated by the summer’s violence in the Middle East, the Center for Leadership Initiatives is launching Leading Up North – Tzedek. The ten-day trip will bring 160 student volunteers to Israeli cities, towns and national parks where they will repair damage and provide emotional support to residents of the area. A specially-tailored educational curriculum will be offered by scholars-in-residence with expertise in service learning. Funding for Leading Up North is being provided by philanthropist Lynn Schusterman.
Participants in the Jewish Pluralism and Peoplehood Track will use Israel as a laboratory to investigate the challenges and opportunities with building a diverse and pluralistic Jewish community.
The Green: Israel and Global Environmentalism Track will enable students to see Israel through the environment and its essential role in the development of growth of the Jewish state.
A pluralistic Shabbat experience at a kibbutz in northern Israel is planned for participants in all tracks.
Hillel professionals are asked to identify qualified students for Hillel’s Winter Israel Experience and all students must have a prior Israel experience. Registration is slated to open on Wednesday, September 20 and close on Monday, October 16.
Departure dates have not yet been confirmed. Please check the Web site for more information. For additional information, please contact missions@hillel.org.
