The 2006 Daniel Pearl World Music Days.
In recognition of slain journalist Daniel Pearl, Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life will sponsor Daniel Pearl Music Days, from October 6-16, 2006, on college campuses across the country. This will be the fifth year the organization is participating in the program.
Musicians worldwide -- amateur and professional – will participate in this global event and use the power of music to help spread a message of hope and unity.
"Danny was a talented musician and principled journalist who respected all cultures and found magic in every person," said Judea Pearl, Daniel's father and president of the Daniel Pearl Foundation. "World Music Days, which commemorates Danny's October 10th birthday, is his legacy to raise awareness of our common humanity. All musicians, no matter their genre, are invited to dedicate performances held from October 6th through 15th. We simply ask that they say a few words from the stage or in the program in affirmation of the principles for which Danny stood."
“It is our honor to once again promote the Daniel Pearl Music Days on our college campuses. The message of Music Days, of cross cultural understanding and hopes for a peace in the Middle East, is one we strongly believe in,” said Wayne L. Firestone, president of Hillel.
