Observing Passover on Different Campuses

Serving as a home away from home, many students chose to celebrate the Passover holiday with Hillel on their campuses.  Yet each school managed to observe the age-old seder tradition in its own way.

At the University of Rhode Island, little frogs and flying marshmallows were used to demonstrate the plagues that befell the ancient Egyptians.

The entire campus community was invited to a special "learning seder" at the College of William and Mary.

Students attending Cornell University's "Super Seder" could choose between 50 different themed seders.

While at the University of Richmond, the custom of inviting strangers to Passover was observed by introducing non-Jewish friends and colleagues to gefilte fish and matzo-ball soup.

Guests at the UCLA Hillel seder discussed the different Passover traditions of their families.

Prior to the start of Passover, students at the University of Delaware helped the Hillel staff ready the kitchen for the holiday.

For students at Ball State University and Bowling Green University, schools with small Jewish student bodies, the university dining services provided many kosher style Passover dining options.

The seder at the lovely Inn at Virginia Tech helped make up for not being at home for some VT students.
