(Be’er Sheva, Israel) -The American Union of Jewish Students (AmUJS) was officially admitted to the World Union of Jewish Students (WUJS) on December 25, 2006 at the annual WUJS Congress in Be’er Sheva, Israel.

This motion marks the first time American Jewish students will represent and advocate on behalf of themselves within WUJS, an international body striving to ensure student participation in the fulfillment of the aspirations of the Jewish people, its continuity, and the development of its religious, spiritual, cultural and social heritage.  

“No other group in the United States can communicate the needs of Jewish students better than students,” said Adam Daum, co-chairperson of AmUJS.  “AmUJS will provide these students with the mechanism and the manpower to control and direct activism in whatever realm they see necessary.”

AmUJS, chaired by Adam Daum and David Steinberg, will join the five other unions representing Latin America, South Africa, Australia, Israel and Europe, which currently comprise WUJS.

Jewish students, both in the United States and abroad, stand to gain from the resources offered by by AmUJS and WUJS.
