AIPAC Honors Hillel Professional Mitzner
May 5, 2009Comments (0) | Add | E-mail this to a friend At its annual Policy Conference in Washington, D.C., AIPAC honored Jenna Mitzner, the Jewish student life coordinator at the University of Central Florida Hillel, with one of its four “Ally of the Year” awards. Mitzner was cited for her strong commitment to supporting AIPAC’s leadership development agenda through activism, advocacy, and mobilization on her campus. In the same category, AIPAC also honored Darius Jones and Jarrod Jordan — founder and political director of the Vanguard Leadership Group, respectively -- and BBYO D.C. Council Program Director Ian Kandel.
The 2009 AIPAC Policy Conference featured a Campus Activism Awards Banquet recognizing the most accomplished pro-Israel campus activists in the nation. Top honors included the 2009 Duke Rudman Leadership Award, which went to activists at The George Washington University for promoting the value of the U.S.-Israel relationship on campus and mobilizing students to help stop the threat of a nuclear Iran.
Advocate of the Year honors, recognizing exceptional student leaders, were awarded to Brown University sophomore Harry Reis and Brigham Young University junior Greg Smith.
AIPAC Campus Cadres at four universities received Activist of the Year Awards, highlighting accomplishments of campuses with the most vigorous and effective pro-Israel political activity. The activists honored attend Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Cornell, and Duke universities.
