Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life has appointed Mark Medin as an executive vice president.
Medin is a veteran Jewish communal professional with over 25 years of experience at UJA-Federation of New York, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), and the Jewish National Fund (JNF). Most recently he served as chief executive officer of the American Friends of Bar-Ilan University, where he oversaw all activities to expand the national image and philanthropic support for the university.
“Mark is a well known and respected professional in the Jewish community, with an outstanding record of success and achievement,” says Hillel President Wayne L. Firestone. “We are thrilled that he now brings his years of experience in nonprofit management, major gifts fundraising, programming, leadership development, marketing, public relations, and governance to Hillel. We look forward to his contribution to Hillel’s growth in the future.”
Medin will be based in Hillel’s New York office and will lead Hillel’s efforts to integrate its marketing, resource development, and leadership into a unified, global campaign.
It is a timely move for Medin, whose eldest daughter recently completed her college search. “Through this process, I’ve heard the name ‘Hillel’ in my home more times in the past six months than in the previous 10 years,” says Medin. “I developed a clear understanding of the critical role and importance that Hillel plays in ensuring the future of the Jewish community. Hillel not only influences the experiences of Jewish students on campus today, it lays the foundation for those very students to become the future leaders of our Jewish community. From both a personal and professional perspective, I am excited to join this great international Jewish organization.”
