The New Directors Institute (NDI), formerly held in Washington, D.C., joined the Engagement Institute’s line up this year at Camp Ramah Darom in Clayton, Georgia, with a program spearheaded by Brian Cohen and Jamie Schiffman. Providing an opportunity to learn from their peers what it means to be an outstanding Hillel professional, New Executive Directors met one-on-one with veteran executive directors, and participated in sessions that ranged from fundraising to Hillel's engagement methodology.

For new executive directors, the Engagement Institute was inviting and supportive – a testament to the strengths and talents embodied by those in our Hillel family, who have propelled new directors’ abilities to create such atmospheres on their respective campuses.

"This was, by far, one of the most helpful, information-filled, and thoughtful conferences I have attended, with both theory and practical advice shared by warm, caring, and knowledgeable teachers and colleagues from both the SIC and other Hillels," said new MIT Hillel Executive Director Rabbi Michelle Fisher. "I have the utmost confidence that I will be beginning my Hillel career as prepared as one can be."

NDI is made possible through the support of the Julian Sandler Endowment for Executive Leadership Development which was created by former Hillel: Foundation for Jewish Campus Life Board of Directors Chairman Julian Sandler shortly before he passed away in March.
