EDITORS COLUMN.

As a New York transplant to Washington DC, I have spent the last two weeks making a lot of observations about my new surroundings. There are two big pros: 1) DC's subway system (or metro as they like to call it) is significantly cleaner, more efficient and easy to navigate 2) The people in the District are friendlier - especially here at the Schusterman International Center! DC bagels, on the other hand, leave a lot to be desired.

In addition to serving as editor of the Hillel Campus Report, I will be working with the Communications Department to increase Hillel's visibility in the media. I look forward to working with Hillels to increase their media profile locally and nationally.

I come to Hillel from a Manhattan-based, secular non-profit. Including "shalom" in emails, wishing your co-worker a "Good Shabbos" and having open conversation about personal religious beliefs are providing for some culture shock. And I am loving every minute of it!

B’shalom,
