A is for Apple and Happy New Year Maybe it was learning the alphabet by memorizing ‘A is for Apple’ or the Granny Smiths my mother put in my lunch box, but apples have always reminded me of the first days of school.
Of course they also remind me of Rosh Hashanah and the Days of Awe, that special time of year ushering in the Jewish new year. Usually, I'm just in awe of anyone's ability to withstand my aunt's Jewish apple cake.
So it seems only fitting we usher in a new Hillel Campus Report in time for the new year. Our monthly e-newsletter strives to keep you informed about today's Jewish campus life, introduce you to interesting Jewish newsmakers, share the latest trends in higher education and bring a bit of Jewish learning into your inbox.
But most importantly, we hope to hear from you. Share your thoughts, opinions and story ideas by e-mailing me at: skurtz@hillel.org. If you want to share your aunt's recipe for Jewish apple cake, that's okay too.
All the best for a sweet new year,
Suzanne Kurtz Editor, Hillel Campus Report
