The William Haber Award
The deadline for 2005 has passed.

Programs of Quality for the Jewish Campus Community

The award honors the late Dean William Haber of the University of Michigan, Chairman of the Hillel Commission from 1955 to 1963 and, for about half a century, an outstanding communal leader in many other areas of vital significance to world Jewry. A renowned academician and an economist of international stature, Dean Haber's achievements and commitments have embodied the highest ideals of Jewish communal service. This is an honorary, not a monetary, award.

Criteria

Nominations should demonstrate distinction and effectiveness and, if possible, a structure that will enable the project to serve as a model for use on other campuses. Nominations should address one or more of the following areas of interest to Jewish college students and to campus professionals:

Organization: Improvement in the quality of Jewish campus life through ingenuity in organization, delivery of service, staff development, or fundraising.

Leadership Training: Innovative programs for developing student leadership.

Programming: New or specialized programs, projects, or strategies that engage previously uninvolved Jewish students, or bring a unique dimension to social, cultural or religious activities.

Special Locations: Imaginative service to Jewish students on campuses distant from major metropolitan centers, on commuter campuses, at community colleges, and in other non-traditional settings.

Graduate Students: Well-designed programs for students in graduate and professional schools.

Faculty: Programs that enhance community and identity among Jewish faculty.
