Grinspoon Quick Turn-Around Grant
These grants were established by the Harold Grinspoon Foundation to help fund student-driven and organized programs in North America.

Criteria
Grant proposals must address the following four criteria to be eligible for Grinspoon Quick Turn-Around funding.
  1. Student Initiated
Proposals must be initiated, written, developed, and implemented by students.
  2. Late-breaking
Proposals must be in response to a late-breaking issue on campus or a new need.
  3. Advancing Jewish Values
All applications must reflect initiatives that advance at least one of the following in a Jewish context:
    • Social Justice: Engaging in acts of loving-kindness or repairing the world, and encouraging creative & strategic action in addressing social issues.
    • Jewish Learning: Celebrating Jewish life and heritage through experiencing and learning rituals, prayers, texts, life-cycle events, or Jewish holidays.
    • Spirituality: Experiencing awe, wonder, and amazement in that which is greater than ourselves through the exploration of faith, belief, and life’s ‘big’ questions.
    • Israel: Exploring educational, cultural, or political aspects of Israel or advocating for Israel as the Jewish and democratic state within secure and recognized borders and as a member of the family of free nations.
    • Jewish Peoplehood: Connecting Jews across time and space with a familial bond based on the shared heritage, memory, history, language, and culture of Jewish civilization.
  4. Interactive and experiential
All applications must reflect initiatives that are interactive and experiential:
    • Initiatives must bring students together as active participants in accumulating knowledge, skills, thoughts, feelings, memories or relationships.
    • Artists, speakers, educators, musicians, performances, and presentations must only be included in order to advance the interactive and experiential components.
    • Food cannot be a primary expense of funded initiatives and should not represent more than ¼ of the total funding requested.

No funding will be awarded for:

  • Alcohol
  • Fundraisers
  • Promotional items
  • Pre-packaged, pre-existing, or outside-contracted offerings or experiences
  • Retro-active requests
  • Large-scale experiences accessible to a significant number of campuses

Funding
Funding between $200 and $400 is available per grant for student-written proposals. Significant financial co-sponsorship must be underway prior to submitting an application. Unfortunately, Hillel is unable to fund all the proposals it receives. Initiatives may be partially funded. Each campus can only receive two Grinspoon Quick Turn-Around Grants per academic year.

Checks will be issued to Hillels or appropriate organizations only and will not be issued to individuals.

Deadlines
Grants will be reviewed on a rolling basis through June 1, 2007 (deadline extended).

Applications must be submitted at least 5 business days and less than 6 weeks in advance of the initiative. Applicants whose grants are received by 3 pm ET on Monday will be notified by Noon, ET on Friday of the same week. No initiatives will be funded retroactively. Applicants will be notified of a decision by phone or e-mail.

Publicity

All flyers, newspaper articles, brochures and other publicity must visibly state: To find funding for your outstanding initiatives, visit www.campusinitiative.org.
