Just the Headlines
If you have spent much time browsing any of International Hillel's Web sites, you have probably noticed links to up-to-the-minute headlines from Haaretz, Jerusalem Post, and Israel Insider. If you have ever thought about adding headlines to your site, then we have good news for you.

Hillel has purchased a premium news feed service from NewsIsFree.com and has secured permission for local Hillels to use the feeds on their sites, as well.  Creating the code to make these news feeds work properly is no small task.  So, we are offering instructions on how to use JavaScript links that use code similar to what we use to power our sites, in order to make the process as easy as possible for you. To request detailed instructions and examples of formatted news feeds, contact Elizabeth Munsey, web developer.

[Note: The code provided, in conjunction with the NewsIsFree.com news feeds, is permitted to be used by local Hillels on their Web sites only. Any other usage of this code and these news feeds is STRICTLY PROHIBITED. Abuse or misuse of this service will result in its removal.]

So, How Do I Do This?

Hillel is currently able to make 8 different news feeds available from 4 different sources (Haaretz, Israel Insider, ISRAEL21c, and Jerusalem Post).

Links to the feeds are made individually, but can be combined in a way that makes them appear to be grouped together. Each feed can be formatted to suit the needs of your site, and there are a number of parameters that you can add to the code provided to better control the display of the headlines.

Advanced Topic: Formatting

You can control the appearance of the news feeds using a combination of the parameters described above, standard HTML, and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). However, this can get pretty complicated, so it is important that you either have experience with CSS or find someone who does to lend you a hand.

For more information on CSS, try WebMonkey.
