We offer a Group Supplemental Retirement Annuity (GSRA) plan (also called a Tax Deferred Annuity) through TIAA-CREF. Pension Plan
Your Hillel also offers a Group Retirement Annuity (GRA) Pension plan through TIAA-CREF. Through TIAA-CREF, employees have the option of investing in a variety of different funds.

In a serious commitment to staff, each local Hillel contributes 8% of an employee's eligible salary toward the pension plan, if the employee contributes 2% (pre-tax) of their base salary plus parsonage (if any). If the employee elects not to contribute 2%, Hillel will contribute 4% of base salary plus parsonage (if any). There is a two-year waiting period before employee and employer contributions can begin. Notification of eligibility and enrollment materials are sent automatically to staff who are approaching their 2-year anniversary; however, please feel free to contact Hillel's International Center to confirm your eligibility.

Eligibility: Employees who work a minimum of 1,000 hours per year (averaging 20 hours/week over 52 weeks) for two consecutive years without a break in service. Participation begins the first of the month following the employee's anniversary date of hire, provided enrollment materials have been received.

Flexible Spending Plan
The flexible compensation plan enables employees to reduce their taxable wages and increase their spendable income by setting aside funds from gross earnings on a pre-tax basis for eligible medical, dependent care, transportation and parking expenses.

You may open a Flexible Spending Account for eligible medical expenses, dependent care expenses, qualified parking expenses and qualified transportation expenses. These accounts allow you to deduct qualified child care expenses (up to the IRS limit of $5,000) or eligible out-of-pocket medical expenses ($3,500 annual limit), on a pre-tax basis.

There is a small participation fee of $6.00 per month. The fee is deducted from gross salary bi-weekly on a pre-tax basis.

Eligibility: Regular employees who work 30 hours per week or more and enroll according to the plan requirements. The benefit runs on a calendar year basis and is offered prior to the beginning of each new calendar year. New employees are eligible to participate in the plan following 30 days of employment provided enrollment is in accordance with the plan requirements.
