Bucknell has a growing Jewish community. We are an inclusive, pluralistic community where each student can discover his or her place. We celebrate Shabbat and holidays together, as well as sponsor educational and social events. We have a Holocaust program each semester---one on Kristallnacht and one on Yom HaShoah, inviting speakers and survivors to campus. Our other programs include speakers, Jewish musicians, comedians and films. Community service is important to our students, and we have an ongoing relationship with a local soup kitchen and the local community center. Bucknell Hillel sponsors an alternative spring break trip each year, called our Jewish Heritage Trip and we have travelled to Eastern Europe, Russia, Peru and Myanmar, among others. We participate on the Interfaith Council as well as being recognized as a Bucknell student organization.
