Tanger Hillel serves a diverse population of commuter students including Russian Speaking Jews, Israeli, Gorski, Bukharin, Orthodox and American students. All of Hillel’s seventeen clubs operate out of the Tanger Hillel at Brooklyn College. The Hillel House is often affectionately referred to as “home away from home” by students. Hillel recognizes the needs of commuter students and responds accordingly. The Hillel house has extended hours and is often open at night. Hillel also provides night activities and events and Hillel staff is always on hand. Hillel is fully accessible to handicapped persons. A ramp leading to the building allows for easy access. Once inside, Hillel offers an elevator to access all three levels of the building and a designated handicapped bathroom. The Tanger Hillel at Brooklyn College is dedicated to provide a wide social network to its students by partnering with other Hillel’s in the NY Metropolitan area and Jewish Organizations like JAFI(Jewish Agency for Israel), JBFCS(Jewish Board of Family and Children Services), RAJE(Russian American Jewish Experience) and many others. Events vary from fundraisers and parties to community service and volunteer projects.
