If you're looking for a place where every single Jewish student makes a difference, then Eckerd College is the place for you. Eckerd Hillel is what we like to think of as a "Start-Up" Hillel. The Jewish student population is growing and everyone can make a serious difference in the scope and quality of Jewish life at Eckerd College. We have weekly Shabbat dinners and weekly classes of Jewish interest from the Campus Rabbi. Our Scuba Club, Scubi Jew, is especially proud of the Tikkun HaYam (Repair the Seas) programs they facilitate; from Coral Reef Restoration trips in the Keys, to Tampa Bay Cleanup Projects and our very own "Mei-Manatees" experience which puts students in the water with manatees to learn about this endangered species and our responsibility as Jews to preserve the world. We're also the only Hillel in the world that owns a boat. "Ally's Way" is the official service vessel of Scubi Jew. While our Hillel is small, Eckerd College is a great place to be a Jewish student; and the mile and a half of beach front property on campus makes it a great place just to be a student...especially in January.
