About Los Angeles Valley College, Van Nuys

Hillel at Valley College is committed to creating a vibrant and dynamic campus community. We provide an abundance of opportunities for Jewish community college students to celebrate Jewish life and culture and learn about our rich heritage. These experiences strengthen their Jewish identities and prepare students for their future leadership and active participation at the universities and in the community. We are continually developing innovative, meaningful, and exciting entry-points to involvement in Jewish life. Throughout the year, we offer rewarding and inspiring programs including: Jewish holiday celebrations, Tzedek projects, arts and culture programs, Israel Independence Day celebrations, guest speakers on topical issues, barbeques, parties, participation in Taglit-Birthright Israel: Hillel trips, nature hikes, Jewish Awareness Month, leadership enrichment opportunities, student internships, scholarships, and much more! We strive to create a pluralistic, warm, and welcoming community. Our off campus programs are held jointly with Hillel at Pierce College.

Birthright Participation Taglit-Birthright Israel offers a free trip to Israel for students who have never been to Israel on a peer-based trip.

Alt Break Participation Alternative Breaks are organized, short-term service projects, often involving travel. Student participants are challenged to understand difficult social issues and to explore questions of Judaism and social responsibility while giving of themselves and their time.

Hillel 818 is the collaboration of community leaders at Hillel at California State University, Northridge, and Hillel at Pierce & Valley Colleges. While our individual Hillels are the face of Jewish life on our unique campuses, together, we represent Jewish campus life in the San Fernando Valley Jewish community. Collectively, Hillel 818 serves over 8,000 Jewish students at CSUN, Pierce, & LA Valley Colleges. Hillel is committed to
