About Pennsylvania State U., Altoona
Penn State Hillel is a dynamic and innovative Jewish student organization. Our mission is to enrich the lives of the 6,000 Jewish undergraduate and graduate students at Penn State so that they may enrich the Jewish people and the world. In pursuit of this mission, Hillel is committed to creating a pluralistic, welcoming and inclusive environment; to helping Jewish students find a balance between being "distinctively Jewish" and "universally human"; to Tzedek (social justice), tikkun olam (repairing the world) and Jewish learning; to Israel and global Jewish life; and to excellence, innovation, accountability and results.
Penn State Hillel offers speakers, social events, social justice and educational opportunities, alternative spring break trips, accessible religious programming, and free trips to Israel. And that is just the beginning. We challenge our student leaders not only to think of new and innovative programs, but to take ownership over their Jewish journeys. We work side by side with students to develop and implement all of our programs and initiatives, helping them gain the skills necessary to become leaders both on campus and in their communities once they graduate.
